Today I spent some time helping a friend on her website. We changed her theme, made a bunch of small tweaks, and changed up her landing page.
I loved the theme she had chosen, and wanted to try it on Kittyloaf Designs with some different typography and slightly different layouts.
Turns out, I love it, and there’s a really good chance I’m going to purchase a license for the full version of the theme with all the bells and whistles. At $29, it’s a really good deal for what you get.
Anyway, I opted to go with a less sterile look and feel for Kittyloaf with elements that reflect myself more strongly.
The bin of embroidery floss, and the subtle knit fabric background give the entire site a textile focus, which only makes sense since many of my crafts involve textiles.
I really hope you’ll like the new look, and you’ll take a few minutes to explore my shop if it’s been a while. I have so many neat things to offer you!
P. S. There’s an extra coupon for the next couple weeks – BACKTOSCHOOL will get you a hefty discount on your total purchase until I go back to school!
I haven’t really been posting here lately and I rarely post personal stuff, but I wanted to update you all about me.
I’ve mentioned before that I’m disabled. And I’ve improved enough over time that I need to be thinking about going back to work. The Department of Rehabilitation is footing the bill by paying all my class fees, for textbooks, and my travel expenses, which is amazing. I’ve decided top go to school to become an MLT (medical lab tech) and last Spring I took my first class. I ended up with a C, because I didn’t really mesh with the instructor’s teaching style, but a C is good enough to progress in my other courses.
Anyway, the DoR pays my expenses within my chosen program, but I also want to take a couple Spanish classes as well. My course load for Fall is looking like BIOSCI 204, HIST 120, MATH 060, and SPAN 101. I’m super excited, but because Spanish is outside the program, I have to meet those expenses myself.
So until August, you can use coupon code BACKTOSCHOOL for 35% off literally everything in my shop. I also have yarn for sale on Ravelry- my user name there is inkdork. I had a wishlist up on Amazon with items I still needed for school but some really kind souls purchased nearly everything on the list. There really are some amazing, kin d, and wonderful people out there!
I’ve been working on some new creations lately, and in the next few days I’ll be adding them to my shop. I’ve been doing a lot of stitching the last few days, plus I have some great ideas for a few new cross stitch patterns!
If you haven’t been by my shop in a while, come back and have a look. There’s some items that I’ve recently added, and I’ll be adding a new coupon as we get closer to summer.
What’s cool about coupons? They add to your cart automatically if you buy qualifying items! There’s current about 6 coupons available for a variety of items, plus some things are always on sale.
I generally put rainbow items on sale in June for Pride month, and skulls and other spooky stuff in October, but otherwise sale items are selected at random.
After my big cleanup and removal of a bunch of products which were donated or taken apart to be remade, I’m spending today adding new products that I never uploaded to the site.
First up is a random collection of kids’ bracelets. There’s 3 sets of 10 available!
I’ve also added 15+ sets of hair clips with crocheted flowers (and one set with hearts!) today. These are really cute and suitable for little ones or adults!
I still have a ton of very pretty bracelets to upload but I need to compare my current inventory to what’s actually online. Adding each listing takes time and I would hate to accidently create a duplicate of something that’s already up.
So stay tuned, and maybe pop back in after the weekend to see everything I’ve added! There’s also new coupons being added to go with the new products!
And as always, coupon code LSG will get you an additional 10% off!
I just went through the few remaining physical items I had marked as free and put them in a bag to be donated tomorrow, found a few other items I don’t want to sit on any longer, made sure my etsy listings matched up with what’s still available… and I deleted almost 60 items from my shop. Some were sold out so they don’t really count, but a lot just weren’t up to the current level of perfection or were perfectly made, but just not moving.
There’s going to be some happy thrift store shoppers though! A few of my friends will be receiving gifts as well so my loss is several people’s gain.
I’m really excited to be clearing out some product, even if its just donating it, because it means I’ll have that much more space to organize and store the things I love! There’s still a few tough decisions to make (books I loved as I child, I mean you!) but I think I’m going to be a lot happier by tomorrow afternoon.
And right now if you browse my shop, there’s quite a few items on sale right now, tons of great patterns, and as always, there’s coupon code LSG for those who want to save another 10% off their purchase. I might even stick a few more items on sale this evening… hmmm… 🙂
I’m still around, I promise! I haven’t been doing much crafting though because quite simply, my craft room here since isn’t quite right. I can’t pinpoint what doesn’t feel right about it, just that I don’t find it super conductive to actually working. I did finish off a skein of yarn the other day in a project I previously thought was completed, and I did cast on a new knitting project the night before last with some of my more precious yarn. I also finally sorted out a ton of beads and selected more to be culled from my collection, which were donated yesterday to thrift along with a few stacks of other items. I have more I would like to let go, I just have to decide what. Some of it is yarns I likely won’t use- those will probably get returned to Micheal’s for store credit when I go into town again.
I’ve also been adding some books to my shop. I don’t have room for physical copies and I would rather read digital ones, so I’m slowly putting my remaining books up for sale. Right now that’s trade paperbacks of comics. The comics don’t have a shipping fee- the price includes media mail shipping to CONUS. Actually all of my books I have listed have no shipping fees and prices are low to help them move quickly. If they don’t sell in a reasonable amount of time, they’ll be donated to thrift.
I’m hoping to get some new handmade items up in the shop soon. I’ve made a few items but haven’t gotten around to listing them yet so that’s next on my list. I can think of at least 2 new necklaces that need to go up that are a lot of fun!
PS – There’s an extra coupon you can use at checkout- just enter LSG into the coupon code box!
The craft fair was yesterday and to keep it simple, I’ll just say it was disorganized and not very many people were making sales. Traffic was so-so, and several people commented to me that they would never spend money at something like this. It was just not a good day.
After all that, today I decided I needed a little retail therapy. There were several good coupons in the apps for both Joann’s and Michael’s, so I decided to visit both of them.
This is what I came away with.
Caron jumbo skein with a 60% off coupon – $5.99 (reg. $9.99)
RHSS jumbo skein with a 40% off coupon – $4.79 (reg. $7.99)
8 regular skeins of RHSS with a 30% off coupon – $2.44 each (reg. $3.49)
2 Big Twist value at 25% off – $2.39 each (reg. $3.19)
Total savings $17.18
After that I decided to go back to Michael’s and got this stuff.
3 skeins Craft Smart with 20% off coupon – $2.39 each (reg. $2.99)
2 skeins Caron Simply Soft at 2 for $5 & 20% off coupon – $2 each (reg. $4.49)
Impeccable BIG! on sale for $7 and 20% off coupon – $5.61 (reg. $9.99)
Total savings $11.09
I spent $54 including tax on 18 skeins of yarn, mostly in colors I didn’t already have.
Now the question is where am I going to put it all?
Guess what? You don’t have to fiddle with entering coupon codes any longer in my shop. When you check out, all coupons you’ve met the requirements for will be applied automatically! So that 18% off of everything coupon? Boom! Yours! No code required! You bought brick stitch earrings? There’s a little extra savings for that too! I’m not going to tell you what all the coupons are, but you could save big without even trying.
Why not click through to the shop and have a look around? I’ll be adding a few more items in the next few days as well.
Over the last few weeks I’ve made some changes. If you’ve been to the site recently, you’ve likely seen the biggest ones right away. The most noticeable change is that I changed the way the website and shop look. I decided to go with an unmodified theme that was made especially to work with my shop software and the result is pretty good.
The second biggest thing that changed is I removed all of the graphic design portfolios from the site and am focusing purely on the shop aspect. I’ve also redone the menus to better focus on the shop and make it friendlier both on computers and on mobile devices. I haven’t been doing much graphic design and to be honest, the laptop I current have is awful and makes it nearly impossible. Less stuff = simpler to navigate.
The third thing, and this might interest you if you intend to place an order, is I got out my postal scale and I weighed almost every item in the shop and re-calculated shipping rates by the half ounce. What this means is you will get the absolute lowest possible shipping rate I can afford to give you. There is no way anyone can say my shipping rates are unfair! I hate paying too much for shipping, and I’m sure you do too.
The fourth thing is I’ve been adding new products like crazy! Your best bet is to pop by the site and see for yourself, but I’ll show you a few images from the new items here so email subscribers can get a quick peek.
There are several other new items, plus of course the other 200+ items that previously existed in the shop.
I’m planning to add more over the next week too, so pop in, have a look, and remember there is always a coupon code available. Right now and through the end of the year, that code is UKULELE for 20% off of everything. That includes sale items too!
I’ve also added a way to comment on and discuss items in my shop. You don’t have to log in or register to do it- just fill out a name, email address, and ask your question or leave a comment. Easy!
