This design was conceived and largely completed by the client; he had a sketch of what he wanted already done. It was up to me to find a suitable font style, as well as create the leaf based on a photo he sent of the appropriate type. The leaf was the most difficult part, but after finding the correct solution for the details of it, it went together smoothly.

This was a very simple and clean top banner for a blog I stumbled across one day. I saw the original banner, and I just had to do something about it. This version really tied the whole page together and made it more balanced then the original banner did.
This one still has a long way to go, but it’s rapidly getting better. I fixed the ears, lowering them to align with the nose like they actually do on someone’s face, and fixed the arms, adding hands as well. The eyes were replaced with better models, and I fixed the sleeves and the neckline of the uniform top. I also changed the font of the speech text, though I forgot to change the bottom text as well. The urge to add wild colored wall paper is strong- after all, we never see the actual bathrooms in the Enterprise at any time. Just that little sink.
I basically wasted my whole 15 minutes this round playing with our faces. After I ran out of time, I had a few ideas (like giving me a neck) to do next time.  I redid this one completely, in case you didn't notice. I had to go out and find a photo of a firefly, and work form it, because I apparently can;t draw one on my own to save my life. The first version looked like glowing pencils, and the second version wasn't much better. This one though... it's much better. Still not perfect, but definitely a big improvement.
 This is going to be my last revision on this one. I re-drew the whisker dots on Pepe's face so they were less square, and I shifted one flower upwards to make room for my revised text. Its not going to be my best out of all of them, but overall I am pretty happy with it. I used an image as reference for the first draft, but drew him entirely freehand. No tracing.
 Not a lot has changed here. I exchanged the faux-drop shadows for real ones, and that's about it. I think this one is pretty much done. I really can't see anywhere else I'd like to tweak it. Consider it done.
Lots of small changes here. I made the eyes of all three characters smaller, making them a bit more realistic. I also altered the shape of the cats’ heads, and adjusted their eats. Their noses were redrawn. Previous versions noted Alix’s arms seemed to vanish against the background, so I made them a bit darker in color. I also reduced the squareness of her shoulders to make her look more feminine, and made her hip area a little wider. Details were added to her pants. Typography was altered, and the eyes did receive some other small adjustments besides sizing. I also lightened the upper areas of the walls behind her.
Lots of changes here which are pretty noticeable. I fixed both of our postures quite a bit, made his figure thicker and more masculine then it was, adjusted my dress and legs, and fixed his beard and my smile. I also played with the typography a lot, and added hand “shapes” to the arms. I still have shelf boobs, but I can fix that next time. |
