Oh, for it to be Halloween more than once a year! Spooky costumes, children begging door to door for candy, and my favorite bit, carving the pumpkins!
Carving the pumpkins is a very intimate act. You begin by lovingly drawing out the design, pondering each curve of your pumpkin, planning each jagged tooth or raging eye. How will this face suit the pumpkin? Will he be friendly? Or terrifying? Or maybe he shall laugh!
Then, with a sharp knife, you will cut into his cranium, and use your hands and a spoon to scrape out his inner most parts. You’ll relish the squish and slip of his entrails over your hands, squeezing them between your fingers. Maybe a horrified face is best for this pumpkin, you think, as you gut him to perfection.
Finally, when the carcass is cleaned, you can begin the real artistry of your work- the carving! Careful strokes with your blade, working like a surgeon, you transform this once unassuming gourd into a grotesque mask of horror. It will wear this face that you place upon it until it rots away to nothingness, or unruly teens smash it with a baseball bat. A death mask, of sorts, placed on this unsuspecting pumpkin.
These super cute jack o lantern pumpkin earrings measure about 1.75″ x 2″ and are done up in two shades of orange, with a spooky black face. They take about an hour and a half to make the pair and they’d love to go home with you to celebrate the Halloween holiday!
They are made with Delica seed beads and hung on hypo-allergenic ear wires.
